Choosing your Superbowl Tailgate Snacks

Superbowl snacks are a part of the Superbowl tradition no game watcher should ignore.

After all, the game's a long one, but you don't want to miss any action, so easily-prepared snack foods are a necessity.

Even if you've got a whole meal waiting in the oven, you'll still need Super Bowl snacks to keep away the before-meal munchies.

Stacks of super snacks

The type of snacks you'll need for Super Bowl Sunday depends on your plans for the day. If you're hosting a Superbowl party, your snack foods need to go beyond a few chips and dips.

While you shouldn't skimp on chips and bowls of dips, why not offer your buddies platters of crudités (you know, fetchingly-arranged raw veggies), tasty hors d'oeuvres, bacon rolls or spicy potato skins? Actually, these wouldn't be bad for just you and your honey snuggled together on the couch. Then there are handy snacks like cocktail meatballs, chicken wings, shrimp skewers...any foods your imagination dreams up.

Don't ignore tradition

Getting back to standard Superbowl foods like chips and dips, there's nothing wrong with traditional Superbowl snacks -- but there's nothing wrong with spicing those snacks up, either. The dips don't have to be onion or bean dip from the store; how about having spicy jalapeño or artichoke dip with your chips? Or, try one of the many to-die-for black bean dip recipes. Then again, there are many corn and tomato-based salsas to enjoy with your Super Bowl snacks. It's all très délicieux, and ideal for a memorable Super Bowl experience.
