About Atlanta, GA: Residents of Atlanta were looking forward to seeing Super Bowl 34 in their home town after watching their Falcons miss out on a victory the year before. They would be watching the St. Louis Rams take on the Tennessee Titans in the Georgia Dome. City officials and other workers had put in countless hours trying to prepare for the thousands of visitors that would be coming to their city during the week of Super Bowl XXXIV.

Ticket Sales / Attendance: There were 72625 people in attendance at the game and it is estimated that 88.4 million more fans watched from home while tuning into ABC who were covering the 34th Superbowl this year and had ratings of 43.3.

Team Pre-Season Stats: The Titans had a lot of changes in the off season, including a new name, new uniforms, and a new stadium. The only question in the air was whether the football would be as appealing as the other items. The load of the offence and chance of winning relied on quarterback Steve McNair and veteran running back Eddie George. If they were going to make the playoffs, both needed to perform at the top of their game.

St. Louis was unsure about how the season would go after losing starting quarterback Trent Green for the year to injury. Their new offensive weapons including Marshall Faulk, Adam Timmerman, and Tory Holt, but with the quarterback situation in limbo it would be a tough year to make the playoffs.

Team Roster / Salaries: St. Louis had a high powered offence for the year including QB Kurt Warner, WR's Tory Holt and Isaac Bruce, RB Marshall Faulk, and LT Orlando Pace. The special teams were also a key part of the offence including K Jeff Wilkins.

Tennessee's offence was also a big part of their roster including QB Steve McNair, WR Kevin Dyson, RB Eddie George, and C Kevin Long.

Game Highlights: Superbowl 34 started out with St. Louis continually driving inside the Tennessee 20 yard line, but failing to convert major points for the majority. In the first half St. Louis kicker Jeff Wilkins kicked 3 field goals from 27, 28 and 29 yards and missed one from 47 yards to give the Rams a 9-0 lead going into the first half. Tennesse had yet to score in the game, but after giving up 294 yards to the Rams they only trailed by 9 points.

When the 2nd half started the Titans drove 43 yards, but their field goal attempt was blocked to keep them scoreless. Kurt Warner later connected with Tory Holt with 7:20 left in the 3rd quarter for 9 yards and a touchdown giving them a 16-0 lead. The Titans then responded with 2 touchdowns on their next 2 possessions, but missed a 2 pt conversion to bring the score to 16-13. Al Del Greco added a 43 yard field goal to tie the game at 16 leading to one of the most exciting championship game finishes of all time.

Kurt Warner then passed deep to Isaac Bruce who outran the Titans defence to give the Rams a 23-16 lead with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game. McNair then rallied to drive his team downfield to the Rams 10 yard line with only 6 seconds left. McNair passed to Kevin Dyson who caught the ball at the 3rd yard line, but was stopped short of the goal at the 1 yard line by Jones leading to a Rams victory!

Game MVP: The MVP of the 34th Super Bowl was St. Louis quarterback Kurt Warner. He went 24 of 45 for a record 414 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. Warner wasn't even heard of in the off season, but got his chance to start as Trent Green went down for the Rams due to injury. He consistently lead his team to victory all year and did the same during the championship leading the Rams to victory.

Half Time Show: The halftime show featured music legend Phil Collins along with other stars Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton, and Enrique Iglesias. 125 drummers and percussionists, an orchestra, aerial dancers and a choir joined these performers. Academy Award nominee Edward James Olmos also narrated the show.

Commercials: Average ad prices surged to $2 million per 30 second spot this year with internet companies paying high dollar amounts to advertise. This was the year of the dotcom boom and featured ads by many of these companies including Monster.com and Hotjobs.com along with other regulars including Pepsi and Anheiser Busch.
