About Miami, Florida: Residents of Miami Florida were busy preparing to host another football game in their Orange Bowl, but this time it would more than a normal game, it would be Super Bowl X. This 10th NFL championship game would draw thousands of visitors to the city and millions would watch from home as the Pittsburgh Steelers would take on the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl 10.
Ticket Sales / Attendance: There were 80187 people in attendance at the game in and it is estimated that another 57.7 million more excited football fans tuned in from their homes or other football parties around the world while tuning into CBS. Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier would call the game and the ratings for the game on this network were 42.3 as the highest number ever would tune in to watch a Super Bowl.
Team Pre-Season Stats: The Pittsburgh Steelers came into the 1975-76 season as defending champions and were looking to repeat this season. With head coach Chuck Noll back for his seventh season with the team he would once again have a strong offence and defence making them favourites to win it all again. The defence would be lead by 7 time Pro Bowler "Mean" Joe Green again this season and Franco Harris would once again take the load on offence. The Dallas Cowboys were hoping to rebound this year after missing out on the post season in the previous year. Head coach Tom Landry would be back again with the team and he would count on quarterback Roger Staubach to lead the offence and hopefully lead them in a playoff run this season.
Team Roster: Key players on the Steelers roster included QB Terry Bradshaw, RB Franco Harris, WR Lynn Swann, WR John Stallworth, DB Mel Blount, DL Joe Greene and LB Jack Ham. The notable players for the Cowboys included QB Roger Staubach, RB Robert Newhouse, WR Drew Pearson, TE Jean Fugett, DB Cliff Harris, DL Ed Jones, DL Harvey Martin and OL Ralph Neely.
Game Highlights: The 1st quarter of the 10th Super Bowl was a close one as both teams each opened the game with a touchdown. The Cowboys opened the scoring with a touchdown pass from Staubach to Drew Pearson only 4:36 into the game. The Steelers responded 5 minutes later with a touchdown of their own as Bradshaw completed a 7 yard pass to Randy Grossman. Dallas added a field goal early in the second quarter, but the game would remain that score, 10-7, until the 4th quarter. Pittsburgh would score 14 straight points on the 4th quarter off of 2 field goals, a safety and a touchdown pass from Bradshaw to Lynn Swann. This touchdown pass to Swann was a 64 yard bomb thrown from Bradshaw was the winning score in the game as the Steelers defence stepped up to end any hope of a Dallas comeback. Glen Edwards picked off a Roger Staubach pass with only a minute remaining to clinch the second straight Super Bowl win for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they won 21-17.
Game MVP: The Most Valuable Player of the 10th Super Bowl was Steelers Wide Receiver Lynn Swann. Swann caught 4 passes for a record 161 yards including a game winning 64 yard pass from Bradshaw late in the 4th quarter. One of the Superbowl's greatest plays was a 53 yard catch he made in the 2nd quarter while juggling the pass and tumbling on the ground.
Half Time Show: The halftime show was presented by and featured Up With People and was entitled "200 years and Just a Baby" which was a tribute to America's Bicentennial.
Commercials: The average cost for a 30 second commercial during the 10th Superbowl was $110000. This sporting event was the most watched in TV history and many companies were beginning to take advantage of advertising during this game.
