Super Bowl Travel: Get ready now!

Face it: unless you're obscenely wealthy, Super Bowl travel is never easy.

Sure, Tampa (the location of Super Bowl XLIII) is a big city, but even a big city has accommodations for a limited number of visitors. Your best bet is to set up your travel and accommodations plans well in advance, so that you're not swallowed up in the insanity of pre-Bowl preparations.

Super Bowl travel may be a pain, but careful travel planning can numb that pain a little.

Gonna travel to Tampa...

Your first option should be to try to hook up with a Super Bowl travel package from a travel agent.

Keep in mind that they go quickly and, depending on how many people you want to share rooms with and your hotel of choice, may cost anywhere from $3,000 to $6,000 per person. (The Super Bowl means super prices for everything).

Travel packages will come with accommodations, tickets, and transportation to and from the game at least, but you'll probably have to make your own way to Tampa. Unless you live nearby that means flying, so be sure to book well in advance for the best prices, and don't forget to get to the airport early for security reasons.

The bowl game to end all bowl games

Football games are always controlled chaos, bowl games more than most, and this most super of all bowl games tops the list of chaotic sporting events. But take a little care with your Superbowl accommodations and travel, and it's likely to be smooth sailing.

A note of caution: make sure you call well in advance to make sure that your lodging and travel reservations are confirmed. You don't want someone else's little computer glitch or forgetfulness to spoil your Superbowl XLIII fun.
