The NFL Superbowl: The Highlight of the Year!

The NFL Superbowl is the coveted prize for which all the teams in the NFL Football League work for each year. The points from every game add up to the final point of which two teams have the highest number of points. These are the teams that will compete for the final playoff in the Super Bowl.

Understanding the NFL

To get a better idea of what the superbowl really means, you have to look at the history of the NFL and the SuperBowl. There are two different divisions, each made up of teams of professional football players.

Throughout the year, the football teams meet on a regular basis on a set schedule, where the teams in each division compete against each other. At the end of the year, the points are totalled and the top is each division goes to the Super Bowl. It is played in a different city each year, which may or may not be the home field of one of the competitors.

Sports fans look forward to the Superbowl each year, whether they follow the teams throughout the year or not. Some of the teams that have made it to the Superbowl more than once are:

  • New England Patriots
  • Green Bay Packers
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Denver Colts
  • Washington Redskins

and others. Another reason that fans tune in to watch this televised sports game is for the half time show. Each year there is a star studded line up for the entertainment and the advertisements that you see on TV are usually developed just for this event.

Tickets for the Super Bowl are very expensive, costing about $5000 each. Die hard fans make the Superbowl their annual vacation as they travel to the city where it is taking place, saving all year to pay for the tickets and the accommodations. Others stay at home to watch it on TV, but there is usually a party where several fans get together to celebrate.
