All true football fans wait eagerly for the yearly grail of the season to arrive, and if you're among the chosen, you've already set aside the dates for Super Bowl 2006 and related events as days when nothing else will be getting done.

The date for Superbowl XL has already been set for February 5, 2006, so you already know what you'll be doing on that date: snuggling up with your date for Super Bowl 2006 and watching the action unfold in Detroit or, if you're romantically challenged (or your better half is football challenged), watching the game with all your buddies.

Superbowl, here we come

Right now, it's still a horserace as far as who will appear to represent the best of the NFL on that special date in Detroit. Will the Patriots be there yet again? Will the Cowboys return? Might the Saints battle back from the devastation of Katrina to enter the game?

Or can we expect to see some unexpected wild cards to take over this Super Bowl? Only time will tell, since nobody's crystal ball seems to work when it comes to the Superbowl. All we can say is that the eyes of millions will be on Detroit on Super Bowl game day.

It's unusual, but not unheard of, for the Super Bowl date to occur in February, but that just means we have more time to get ready for the game! This game will mark the 40th anniversary of the Superbowl; it's been 40 years since American football came together in one massive new NFL.
