Teams in the running for the 2006 Superbowl

No one knows yet what teams will be playing at Ford Field in Detroit when the 2006 Super Bowl takes place. No doubt the top NFL team of 2005, the New England Patriots, will be hopeful for another chance to defend the title. Other hopefuls include:

  • Peyton Manning and his Colts are looking for their first Super Bowl title in 30 years
  • The Philadelphia Eagles may only have 2006 to take the title, but with the drama that occurred in the off season this may be an unexpected challenge
  • Atlanta Falcons also have their eye on the title and if quarterback Michael Vick could have a career year they could make a serious run for the title
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers were looking to repeat their 15-1 record last year, but will need a solid running game once again to go deeper into the playoffs.

Halftime Show

What the halftime show will bring is always an interesting topic. It is almost impossible to have a perfect Superbowl game and everyone will certainly be watching to see if there is another faux pas like the 2004 show. Of course, all the fans want to see the cheerleaders of the teams, but they are also rooting for their favorite band to get top billing.

The setting for the 2006 game is the new 500 million dollar stadium in Detroit. Superbowl XL will be the second time that the Superbowl takes place in Detriot. The last Super Bowl played here was Super Bowl XVI, when Joe Montana brought the prestigious title to the San Francisco 49ers.

The price you pay for your tickets to the game depend on where you choose to sit. For example, a ticket for seats at the Mezzanine level on the 30-50 yard line will run you about $5000. The cheapest tickets sell for about $2300. In spite of the cost, every one of the tickets will be sold.
